About the author
Since first travelling abroad in the mid-seventies, Hugh has been sporadically chronicling his emotional responses to experiences and observations of the world.
A life of love and sadness, success and setbacks, friendship, wonder and global wandering has provided a rich source of material from which his poetry and other creative endeavours are drawn.

The inspiration for the title poem of this collection came while Hugh was cunningly disguised behind a black apron at one of Sydney’s beachside cafés.
Besides being a food and beverage delivery mechanism, Hugh works as an actor, and narrator for television, radio and documentaries.
He has read several books for the ABC’s Australiana audio section, as well as narrating the popular children’s animated series, Milly and Molly.
In the European summer of 2008, Hugh was based in Kreuzberg, Berlin, which was the inspiration for many of the poems in his next collection, to be published shortly.
